Shanna VanDerwerker has a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Point Park University. As a professional dancer Shanna performed on Broadway, national tours, several regional theaters, and Walt Disney World. She has worked with Christopher Gattelli as an Associate for almost 20 years, including on Broadway’s High Fidelity. Shanna has choreographed for Porchlight Music Theatre, Mercury Theater Chicago (Jeff Award Winning Spamalot) and the Chicago premiere of Lysistrata Jones for Refuge Theater Project for which she received a Jeff Nomination. She is also a recurring choreographer at The Fireside Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI where her favorites include Saturday Night Fever, 42nd St, Newsies, and Singin' In The Rain. She has taught and choreographed for numerous studios and festivals around the country including Regional Dance America Midstates in Madison, WI and the Educational Theater Association's International Thespian Festival. After almost 5 years as the dance captain of the First National Tour of Wicked, Shanna settled in Chicago where she is currently on faculty at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and Visceral Dance Center.
